February Goals

My oh my, I feel like every time I sit down to write my monthly goals I am amazed at how fast time seems to be flying by. Although, with the weather lately, I find myself wishing away February and yearning for March. Hopefully these goals I put in writing will encourage me to make the most of my least favorite month of the year.

There is a lot of excitement swirling around our household (more news to come), so I know these goals will be ever-changing

February Goals:

1. Continue to find time to sit and reflect. I loved following the Naptime Diaries “Advent” Devotional, and am looking forward for Lent to start and dive into the latest learnings. In the interim, finding the time to sit and read the Bible or even just decompress with yoga has been so tough since the New Year. My lack of energy and overall annoyance with the weather leads me to watch WAY too much TV, and eat WAY too many snacks. By prioritizing “me time”, I’m hoping to start each day with intention & end each day with praise.

2. Find New Ways to Stay Active. The last thing I want to do when I get home from work, is change and go BACK out in the cold for my work out class (I think you all can sense a common theme here…). Luckily, my office has a treadmill desk that I can walk whenever I have conference calls, lunch, or “down time” to try and hit my 10,000 steps. I LOVE my FitBit because it keeps me honest. It’s been SOO upsetting to look down at the end of a tough workday and see I only walked 1800 steps. Kyle & I have been bundling up and walking loops around our apartment complex when I can’t fit a walk in the office, but I need new ways to stay active at home. I need YOUR help!! What do you do to stay active indoors? Yoga? Weights? DVDs?

I love my FitBit One!!! But there are so many options now!

3. Blog more. Find inspiration. I hate making this a goal. I only want to put content out there when it comes to me. I think you as a reader deserve that – not just a post every day to meet some “requirement”, but posts that really were inspired. So maybe instead of “blog more”, my goal needs to be “find more inspiration”. With the new year, work gets crazy. With the new year, the weather is horrible. With the new year, all I want to do is nap. So I need to force myself to try new restaurants, visit new shops, stay up on the latest trends, and report back! One exciting activity I have planned for February: attending a calligraphy workshop!!! So excited to share this with you next week!

4. Rework our budget. This is not a fun goal. But to be honest, our budget is pretty fluid. We have always been good at naturally not spending more than we make and have never failed to hit our savings goal or pay the bills. But as we started the New Year, one of our resolutions (that never started in January), was to take a hard look at HOW we were spending our money. Making sure we aren’t just “wasting” money, and making sure we prioritize things like tithing, exercise, and travel. But a budget to me isn’t just our paycheck. The world of finance is a slight mystery to me, and between 401Ks, Roth IRAs, Mutual Funds, and all these fancy savings tools, I feel like we aren’t maximizing our capabilities. I want to retire at 45 (ok…so that won’t happen…), and our budget needs some reworking to get us out of the workforce ASAP. PLUS, we are in the process of buying a house, saving for a future family, and just overall growing up. So NOW IS THE TIME!

Because February is a short month, I need realistic goals – so I’m stopping here!!! Plus I’m traveling for work (as is Kyle) for most of the month so I honestly don’t have time for much else.
