Kyle & I made a spontaneous, 10 hour drive to Indianapolis this weekend to watch the Bulter/Villanova basketball game (which we unfortunately lost in a last second shot…). It was my Valentine’s gift to Kyle, since he is probably like most men who a.) isn’t a big fan of the “holiday” anyway, and b.) doesn’t like “things” as much as he likes “activities”. But with only a few hours of downtown to spare, I knew I had a few spots I had to visit.
Luckily, I had heard of a new cake shop open in Broad Ripple (just north of the city, and near Butler’s campus) that I had to check out. The Cake Bake Shop brings Paris to Indiana (a fete I never thought possible), and reminded me of shops you’d see in Chicago or New York, not good ol’ Indiana.
The line was SOOOO long, granted it was Valentine’s Day, but thankfully Kyle let us wait and try out some of the confections. From HUGE slices of cake to mini macarons, this is the perfect date spot or girl’s night out. With a glass of champagne, or pot of English tea, The Cake Bake Shop caters to all aspiring Parisians stuck in the middle of the US.
We opted for some mini macarons (rose & caramel chocolate) since we had literally just bought 2 massive cupcakes earlier in the day. Both were soft & chewy with the perfect filling. I could have eaten a dozen…
I could go on and on about how gorgeous the shop was, delicious the desserts, and hospitable the staff was, but I encourage you to go and see for yourself. You will not be disappointed (and your date would LOVE to go!).
