I love Philadelphia. It’s such a great city that’s easy to navigate and there is plenty to explore. Kyle & I are creatures of habit though, so while we enjoy venturing into new territory, we prefer to stick with what we know & love. After not having been to the city in a few months since the I was about 36 weeks pregnant, it was great to get the chance to go and visit our favorites. Here’s a look at the perfect day in Philadelphia:
Coffee: Ultimo coffee on Catherine St. Voted #1 coffee shop in America by the Daily Meal, this place does not disappoint (well, it’s just a coffee shop…but it’s REALLY good coffee).
Lunch: Nomad Pizza. I was first introduced to Nomad’s at a Night Market – where a bunch of food trucks come and take over the streets of various “towns” around Philly. While there are a few locations, Kyle & I prefer to go to the location on 7th St. down by South St. and sit at one of the outdoor tables. Pro tip: order the spicy soppressata pizza on Roman style crust. You will not be disappointed. Plus, the 7th Street location plays movies upstairs, so it’s a fun date night!
Dessert: Capogiro Gelato. With several locations, we usually go to the one on 13th Street right next to El Vez (a great Stephen Starr restaurant). The area is great for browsing through shops or scouting out where you want to eat dinner. I usually get a fruit gelato (I love apple & grape), but pistachio never lets you down!
Places to visit & walk: While Philly is known for Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and all of its history, Kyle & I like to visit the Art Museum and drive on Kelly Drive. Boat House Row is such a cool place having grown up in the Midwest where crew was barely a sport…We also like to go just outside the city to the Zoo!
Whatever you do in Philly, you will not leave hungry and thankfully there are plenty of places to walk it off!!
