Thunderbird Indy & My Restaurant Bucket List

IMG_9723 2

The Indy food scene has improved with new restaurants popping up all over the place. With recommendations from friends & co-workers, and a little digging on my own, I’ve created a Indianapolis restaurant bucket list – with a goal to complete this initial list by the end of summer!!! I called one of my friends, and asked if she wanted to join me for a mid-week dinner and gave 3 options. She had been to 2 of the 3, so we landed on trying out Thunderbird, a newer restaurant in Fountain Square.

I’ve heard this place gets really crowded, so we met at 5:30 on a Thursday hoping to avoid the crowd…and well, I walked in and was the only person there. As the evening went on, the place started to fill up, but I’m guessing it is busiest on Fridays and the weekends, so if you’re hoping to avoid a wait, definitely check it out after work on night!

The food was good, but not great. The mac & cheese w/ jalapeno was delicious, but my chicken sandwich left a lot to be desired. Maybe it was the bread (which was a little soggy), maybe it was sauce…but next time, I’d probably just go for the fried chicken with no bread!  I’d recommend going for the cocktails. They have fun drinks created by each of the bartenders and change seasonally.

    • I’ve been to the Georgia Reese’s off 86th (ish…) street and it was so good! I need to check out the downtown location since I think they shut down the Northern Indy location. Let me know if you go to any of these before I get to!
