Milktooth restaurant was recently named one of the best restaurants in the WORLD by Conde Nast. Located in Fletcher Place in downtown Indianapolis, I must admit I was a little skeptical about all the hype. Indiana isn’t exactly known for being a foodie town…until now.
Everything I heard about Milktooth was to “give it a chance”. The flavor combinations may sound weird, but just go with it. Ask the waiter. Be open to new tastes. Don’t worry – it’s all delicious.
Kyle & I decided to try a little bit of everything. I mean, isn’t that the best way to do it?
We ordered apple fritter donuts, sorghum glazed bacon (because why not?), sour cream biscuit with collard green and tomato butter with spike buckwheat honey drizzle, and a sourdough pearl sugar waffle with acorn squash butter, pomegranate maple syrup, pumpkin seeds & pecan granola.
To drink, I started with a classic French 75 (delicious & perfectly refreshing) while Kyle opted for a mocha. As a coffee connoisseur, I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of coffee. So impressed, I not only got a latte to go for myself, but a bag of Ruby coffee (roasted that week!) to bring home!
Every bite was better than the last. My favorite was the sour cream biscuit (the topping changes frequently, but highly recommend as I’m sure it will not disappoint). Kyle’s favorite was the apple fritter donut. The waffle was perfect for sharing – light and the perfect texture.
Should this be considered one of the best restaurants in the world?
Seems like such a bold statement, but I can see why it made the list. The creative and eclectic flavor combinations and persistence in providing such a high quality dining experience inevitably put this in a class of its own. It’s easily one of the best restaurants in Indy, hands down. However, keep in mind it’s a diner. It’s brunch. It’s not exactly life changing. But it is pretty darn good.
If you’re ever in Indy and want to check it out, be sure to give me a call – I’m dying to get back again soon!
