On our last trip to Cincinnati, I was on a quest to find the best brunch spot in Cincinnati and I think we found it. Maplewood Kitchen & Bar is a “west coast cafe in the heart of Cincinnati”. The restaurant offers healthier fare that screams California. Think “poke tuna tostada” or “ricotta toast with berries and honey” or “quinoa cakes with poached eggs in a San Marzano tomato sauce”. Not what you expect for Cincinnati, am I right?
When you walk in there are two options – stand in line to order at the counter, or find seating at the bar. The line was almost out the door, so Kyle scoped out the bar. Lucky for us, there was a couple about to leave so we snatched the table. Let’s just say that wasn’t our first time snatching tables at the bar. It’s every man for themselves out there!
If you do choose to wait in line, you can enjoy the wait with a fresh mimosa with orange juice or using one of their cold pressed juices.
I got a mimosa with their Sol Glo juice – made with carrots, oranges, pineapple, and ginger. It was a fun twist on the classic cocktail! For food, we decided to get several small plates: poke tuna tostada, lemon ricotta pancakes, chips & guacamole, fries with house aioli and a side of bacon. Super random – but super delicious!
Everything was fantastic. I ate the pancake without syrup – just with the blackberry preserves. I highly recommend these if you visit!! It was definitely my favorite!
Next time you visit Cincinnati, be sure to stop by!
