Quick Trip: Boise, ID

One of my work perks (if you’re not asking Kyle…) is getting to travel! I have been able to go to so many (random) cities that I know I’d likely never visit on a vacation. Another added benefit of work travel is that you are usually traveling with someone who knows the area pretty well, ensuring you get to see the best the city has to offer.

On one of my latest trips, I was able to visit Boise, ID. I only had one thing on my list: eat a lot of potatoes…because what else is there to do? Boy was I wrong…

The girls I was traveling with had never been before either, so I ended up taking the reigns in planning the trip. I researched best restaurants for both casual lunches, more formal dinners, and cool coffee shops.

One of the coolest places we checked out was Bleubird. It is a local sandwich shop with the FRESHEST ingredients. They also make homemade sodas.  Everything is super fresh & unique – and the place is SOO cute!

We got there for a late lunch and the line was STILL out the door. Apparently this place is pretty popular, so I recommend going when you have some time to wait.

We decided to try a few options to share: the grilled cheese sandwich (with brie, gruyere, cheddar, caramelized onions, fig preserves & dijon aioli), turkey & brie sandwich (with shaved apple, fig preserves, greens & dijon), and the appetizer special of fresh peaches with prosciutto, parmesan, and honey! I opted for the basil lemonade soda and my coworker got the ginger lime.

It was all amazing – there isn’t anything I tried that I wouldn’t recommend! And no, we didn’t eat any potatoes there! If you want to get your potato fix be sure to check out Boise Fry Company!

We had such a fun, short trip to Boise – I hope to get back. I would totally recommend for a three day weekend – if only it was a little more convenient of a flight from Indianapolis!!!

Other places to visit: District Coffee House, Fork, & Alavita!
