We spent the holidays up in Clarkston, MI with Kyle’s family. It’s always so nice to get away and spend the time with your loved ones. We love visiting Clarkston – it’s such a cute town with adorable shops & good restaurants. Recently, a new restaurant opened in the old bank called The Fed that we had been dying to check out.
It’s not the most kid-friendly place (well, it’s kid-friendly enough for brunch, but not necessarily toddler friendly!) so we hadn’t had a chance to go. Kyle’s parents graciously offered to watch Aidan so we could check it out and I’m so glad we did!
As always, Kyle & I shared a few plates – truffle fries, biscuits with chorizo gravy, and French toast with macerated berries! It was all soooooo good! My favorite was the biscuits & gravy. It was a pretty small portion for the price (I just ordered a side), but did not disappoint in flavor!
Kyle loved the French toast – it had a vanilla custard inside that gave it some extra flair. I think his favorite dish though was the truffle fries! He said it reminded him of Au Cheval in Chicago (one of our favorites) which is a huge compliment.
Inside, the restaurant couldn’t be prettier. It felt like we were in any major city, not in small town Michigan. They have redone the vault into a private dining area and has a unique down stairs spot also great for large groups. The added sparkle from the holidays made the place truly magical! I definitely want to check it out again for dinner (and maybe post-pregnancy when I can try a fun cocktail, too!). Be sure to check it out if you’re ever in the Clarkston area!
